Why I Am Flipping "A Maui Blog"

When I announced I yesterday that I am going to sell www.amauiblog.com I got a lot of replies via DM and mentions on Twitter as well as comments and messages on FB.  I almost felt like was Oprah announcing the end of her show - LOL!  ok... maybe not.  Not quite. Now the biggest, most asked question is "why sell?'

Let me tell you a scenario that will help explain why:  Imagine that  "A Maui Blog" is my 4 year old child. In a way, it really is.  I conceived it, I nurtured it, I watched it grow.  I love that blog. I never thought or imagined I would let it go. But now I am ... I am about to let it go.  Imagine me as  a poor single mom who is the mother that 4 year old child named "A Maui Blog".  What I am actually doing is putting my 4 year old for an adoption because I can't take care of him anymore, and I know that someone out there will be able to take care of him better.  Someone other than I can make him grow better.

Here's the thing.  I need more time with my 2 kids who are both growing up so fast (12 and 13).  Right now I am working with a developer builder here on Maui.  I have the best job a working mom can have. Nevertheless, it still takes away time from "home".   But then again, I need that job because we have to pay our bills (a.k.a. mortgage ;) - I need to have more time with my family right now, especially with my kids, so the thing that is to be "sacrificed" for now is my A Maui Blog.

I love A Maui Blog and see a lot of potentials in it. I do not have the time to give it all the attention it needs.  I believe that if that blog lands on the right person - a person who can work on it full time, knows coding, Adsense, Amazon, Direct Marketing Sales, etc. and blogs participate in social media regularly, it will generate a good regular income.

Now, if you are wondering if I am totally giving up my participation with Social Media, the answer is no.  I have another project I am working on. I will share more about that later. I'll be around.  I still have some social media commitments, I just need to use my time wisely.

The next big question is "how much?"  People wants to know how much I am selling the blog. I will be listing it on www.flippa.com under "private selling" with the goal to sell it for $8,000 or more.  That amount will include all the social media components of the blog including a Twitter handle with 6,000+ followers and FB Page. I will review all the best offers but will award it to the "best qualified" to "adopt my A Maui Blog child".
